The Many Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has many health benefits. Traditionally used as cooking oil, it is well known for its medicinal benefits. It improves digestion. It helps the body absorb other nutrients like amino acids, minerals, and vitamins. It prevents infections and illnesses. It helps to control blood sugar levels.

Coconut oil is now also getting quite a reputation as an effective cosmetic product. You can use coconut in a variety of ways to help you enhance your physical looks.

An increasing number of women are finding that coconut oil is an incredibly effective moisturizer. It hydrates and moisturizes, giving the skin a wonderful healthy glow. It lightens dark spots and fights premature signs of aging. It is also helpful in treating acne; it hydrates the skin without making it produce inordinate amount of sebum that gets trapped in the pores.

It is effective for dry and sensitive lips. It gently soothes mouth sores.

If you have damaged skin due to too much sun exposure, you can use coconut oil to hasten healing. It is also effective for healing dry and cracked heels.

It is always important to exfoliate the skin – to get rid of the dead skin cells that serve as the coarse, flakey outer layer to reveal the healthy, radiant, and silky new skin underneath it.  You can use coconut oil as a cheap and effective way to exfoliate your skin. Simply mix 3 tablespoons of the oil with a couple of tablespoons of sugar and use as you would a commercial exfoliating product.

You can make you own deodorant. Just mix coconut oil, shea butter, baking soda, and arrowroot and you have an all-natural effective deodorant.

3.Make-up Remover

The oil is also effective as a make-up remover. It is effective even on waterproof make-up.

You need to clean your make-up brushes on a regular basis. If you fail to do so, bacteria are likely to build up in the brushes and lead to skin blemishes and even infections. Combine coconut oil and soapy water to clean your make-up brushes and get rid of germs.

2.Hair Treatment

Coconut oil is great as hair treatment. It is rich in lauric acid, a form of fatty acid that protects your hair from dryness, dandruff, and damage. It prevents split ends. It moisturizes dry hair and brings back its softness and luster.

For best results, apply an even amount of oil from root to tip.  Leave it on for about half an hour so that the hair can absorb its nutrients.  Then carefully wash the oil off.

1.Cuticle care

Do you want an easy way to keep your cuticles clean and healthy? Just dab coconut oil on your cuticles with a piece of cotton regularly and your nails will soon be amazingly strong and healthy.

Look for unrefined or organic coconut oil. Refined coconut oil has gone through chemical processing, and sometimes, hydrogenation to improve its flavor. It loses many of its nutrients this way. If you want to use coconut oil for its health benefits, you are better off choosing the unrefined organic version.
